3 Commando Brigade transforms to meet demands of new operations

Article Abstract:

3 Commando Brigade Royal Marines (3 Cdo Bde) assaulted the Al Faw Peninsula at the start of the invasion of Iraq in January 2003 while it was relying on insecure communications at low level and had limited organic intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance (ISTAR). Fast Forward a mere three years to January 2006 and 3 Cdo Bde is in the process of a wide-ranging transformation which, when complete, would have fundamentally changed its operational utility and the way it goes about its business.
