A victim of its own success?

Article Abstract:

The U.S. naval aviation has set new standards for weight of effort, persistence, precision, and joint integration during coalition combat operation in Afghanistan and Iraq since the commencement of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM (OEF) in October 2001. The growing disparity between the importance of carrier aviation's support of joint combat operations and its place in the future U.S. military force structure has to be reverted to avoid difficult budget-drive decisions.

DD(X) realization of the integrated power system

Article Abstract:

The design and development of the US Navy's next-generation DD(X) destroyer that is tailored for land attack and inland support of joint and coalition forces are described. The Navy has created ten Engineering Development Models (EDMs) as part of the programme's risk mitigation strategy in order to reduce the technical risk early in the programme's design and development phase.
