Armoured vehicles from Germany

Article Abstract:

The German tank and battlefield armoured vehicles industry employs 15,000 workers and has produced such platforms as the Main Battle Tanks LEOPARD 1 and 2, the APC FUCHS, the SP anti-aircraft system GEPARD, the WIESEL 1 and 2 light vehicles and the SP howitzer PzH-2000. The primary armoured- systems companies in Germany are Krauss-Maffei Wehertechnik GmbH, MaK System Gesellschaft mbH, Henschel Wehertechnik GmbH, KUKA Wehrtechnik AG and Wegmann & Co GmbH. In addition, the top component companies are MTU Friedrichshafen, STN ATLAS Elektronik, Blohm & Voss, Diehl Remscheid, Renk and ZF, and Zeiss-Eltro-Optronik.

Fighting terrorism and insurgency: Shaping the information environment

Article Abstract:

The US joint Information Operations (IO) doctrine should be formulated in such a way that would enable victories over non-state actors in the physical environment (PE). The timely employment of specified capabilities to influence, disrupt, corrupt or usurp the adversarial information environment and decision-making while protecting the forces will improve the US military's ability to fight terrorism and insurgency.

The current status and future prospects of the German defence industry, which develops, tests and produces the equipment required by the Armed forces, are discussed. The land systems, weapons and ammunition, electrical engineering/electronics, precision engineering, optics and optronics, aerospace, naval shipbuilding and commercial vehicles are the different sectors of the German Defence industry.
