Army airborne command and control system

Article Abstract:

The US Army will install airborne command and control system (A2C2S) in the UH-60 series Black Hawk helicopters. The system is expected to provide field commanders with situational reports and communications during tactical operations. The reconfigured Black Hawks will be equipped with position location reporting system, single-channel ground and airborne communication equipment, tactical command and control systems, joint surveillance target attack system and other data communications systems.

173rd Airborne Brigade in Iraq

Article Abstract:

The paratroopers of the 173rd Airborne Brigade, U.S. Army Southern European Task Force (Air-borne), parachuted into northern Iraq to seize the airfield at Bashur and within 25 minutes put a thousand soldiers on the ground in order to deter Iraqi aggression against Kurds and factional fighting in Northern Iraq. Thus, the airborne assault to seize the airfield represented a crowning achievement for the soldiers of the 173rd Airborne Brigade.

Oh, to be Airborne again!

Article Abstract:

A personal account of Army Airborne training in the early 1960s is presented. The first training took place in Fort Bragg, NC, and Fort Benning, GA, followed by war games in South Carolina and other locations.
