Assessing Iran's plutonium reprocessing capabilities

Article Abstract:

Analysts have focused on Iran's uranium enrichment policies, but very little is known about the processing of spent nuclear fuel to acquire plutonium, a capability which Western experts feel at this stage Iran possesses. Based on the available evidence, Iran would need a modest size nuclear reactor, which it does not possess, to create the plutonium. However, developing such a program would only require some time and patience.
