Baltic beat

Article Abstract:

The other NATO member nations have organized the deployment of combat aircraft and ground support personnel and equipment to police the new members' airspace since new NATO members Slovenia and the Baltic states of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia lack their own air forces. The Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe in Mons, Belgium oversee these air-policing operations whose effectiveness has already been proved by the cessation of Russian air incursions into Baltic airspace.

Nordic transformation

The reorganization of Norways' Telemark battalion after its 1999 fiasco in Kosovo, unveils the ambitious plans for the military transformation of Norway. The plans for the future call for units that can be rapidly deployed in Norway's defense and can be participated in the peacekeeping missions abroad.
