Combat SAR: Options and equipment

Article Abstract:

Combat Search And Rescue (CSAR) operations requiring forces ranging from a single aircraft to complex task forces at distances beyond areas controlled by friendly nations is critical for morale, protection of assets, security and continued domestic support for combat. The success of the mission often depends on real-time intelligence, well-trained crews, advanced technologies and creativity and improvisation capabilities of the commanders.

Article Abstract:

The function and principles of combat search and rescue (CSAR) mission, by locating the personnel and recovering them under virtually all geographic and climatic conditions is presented. It is concluded that advanced technologies, well-trained crews, real-time intelligence along with creativity and improvisation capabilities by the commanders are very much essential for the successful execution of the CSAR mission.

Shoulder-fired surface-to-air missiles (SAMs) also known as MAN-PADS (portable air defense systems) are potential terrorist weapons and are used in military conflicts. There are a number of different types of shoulder-fired SAMs like IR guided missiles, command line of sight missiles, which are described in detail.
