Contractors on the battlefield

Article Abstract:

Defence industry contractors provide the US Army with logistical supplies and services needed for operations. Currently, the contractors are responsible for support services, as they have the necessary technical skills and knowledge to operate in tactical, operational and strategic modes. Partnerships with contractors allow for financial savings and increases employment opportunities, due to Defence Department awarded contracts, such as weapons upgrading and conversion programs.

Guidance for incoming commanders

Article Abstract:

Several guidelines by expert for battalion and brigade to help them accomplish the division's primary mission are presented. Experts believe that it is an extraordinary physical and mental task to supervise, guide, direct, coordinate, influence and take car of almost all soldiers in the unit.

The legend of Zorro Blanco

A retired Army officer tells of his 1972 experiences at Fort Hood, TX, as he was learning to be a platoon leader, under the watchful eye of an experienced sergeant. Valuable lessons were learned that stayed with him throughout his career.
