DRS to provide recorders for Navy P-3C aircraft

Article Abstract:

DRS Technologies Inc has been chosen to design and build Acoustic Data Recorder (ADR) systems for the US Navy's P-3C Orion maritime patrol aircraft in an initial $3.7-million contract from Lockheed Martin Federal Systems. The company's division, DRS Precision Echo Inc in Santa Clara, CA, has been assigned to fulfill the requirements of the contract. The ADR is a compact, inexpensive, low-powered and ruggedized device for recording multiple channels of acoustic information.

Litton Marine Systems delivers first new-generation ring laser gyrocompass systems to US Navy

Article Abstract:

The US Navy recieved the first of the four AN/WSN-7B gyrocompass ordered by the Naval Sea Systems Command from Litton Marine Systems. The AN/WSN-7B is a ring laser gyro system intended to replace the aging AN/WSN-2 gyrocompass. It is being installed on the new nuclear-powered attack submarine USS Jimmy Carter, which is under construction at Electric Boat Corp's facility in Groton, CT.
