Dassault, Intergraph announce strategic alliance in shipbuilding

Article Abstract:

Intergraph Corp and Dassault Systemes SA of France have formed a partnership to develop and market a comprehensive set of shipbuilding software applications. The two companies intend to use their expertise in computer-aided design to create software applications that will answer the needs of shipbuilders and ship owners in engineering, manufacturing, maintenance and life-cycle processes.

Third Virginia-class SSN honors state of Hawaii

Article Abstract:

The first commissioned US Navy ship to bear the name Hawaii is the third Virginia-class nuclear-powered attack submarine. The Hawaii honors the rich heritage of submarines in the Pacific as well as the men and women who served in the state of Hawaii and those who supported them. The Hawaii will be built jointly by Newport News Shipbuilding and General Dynamics Electric Boat Div. It is scheduled to join the fleet in 2007.

Condor takes off

Article Abstract:

The Command and Control On-the-Move Network Digital Over-the-Horizon Relay (Condor) system is expected to deliver command and control links to fast-moving or widely separated units in any location and on any platform. Condor Gateway, the Point-of-Presence Vehicle (PoP-V) and the Jump Command-and-Control Vehicle (JC2V) are the three different configurations of Condor that would be deployed in 2008, 2010 and 2011 respectively.
