The Virginia-class nuclear-powered attack submarine features the latest electronics technologies, modular design and construction, and both littoral and traditional deepwater/antisub/antishipping capabilities. The first units will be delivered in 2005.

The IPS advantage - electric drive: a propulsion system for tomorrow's submarine fleet?
