Experts fault paltry funding lack of port security strategy

Article Abstract:

Former Navy Secretary John Lehman, a member of the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States reported that 90 percent of transportation security funding goes toward aviation safety, with a mere 10 percent left to pay for port security and other efforts. Lehman is addressing the House Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation Subcommittee, which met to review a number of the commission's recommendations calling for a revamped intelligence apparatus, congressional oversight reform and more balanced allocation.

Industry adapts outdoor gear technology to flight clothing

Article Abstract:

Multi-climate protection system (MCPS), which is a set of four lightweight water-repellent multilayered garments that can be worn with flight suits and aviation gear can be used for protection against fires, wind, rain and snow. These garments are expected to enter service with Marine Corps, Air Force, Army, Coast Guard and U.S Forest Service.
