Fast forward: Army streamlines development effort to deliver gear sooner

Article Abstract:

The Army planners are planning to streamline the development effort to deliver the equipments that are designed for future warriors much earlier than planned. The U.S. Army will be consolidating its Land Warrior and Future Force Warrior programs into the Ground Soldier System (GSS), the dismounted infantry component of an effort aimed at upgrading the battle gear of every soldier, in 2005 regardless of specialty or mission.

The army aviation's role in the modern battlefield is emphasized. The use of helicopter attacks during Operations Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom, is described.
