'Flanking visitors'- Indian Sukhois on EU soil

Article Abstract:

The French 125th Air Force Base 'Charles Monier' at Istres hosted the bilateral French-Indian air force exercise 'Garuda II' from 15 June to 1 July 2005 and this was the first time that the Indian Air Force (IAF) took part in an exercise in Europe and the first time it has brought its Sukhoi Su-30K fighters out off India. The trans-continental deployment of Indian fighters and their support aircraft is considered as a major undertaking and a valuable lesson in planning, organization and interoperability.
