Tripling the information: New data fusion concept enhances NATO AWACS capabilities

Article Abstract:

NATO AWACS is upgrading the existing mission computing hardware and software infrastructure with the help of European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company ( EADS ) Defence Electronics in accordance with modern, flexible, open system architecture principles. The sophisticated use of modern processing technology, combined with newly developed algorithms would provide best possible information to the operator for situational awareness and air battle management capabilities.

India revives indigenous AWACS programme

Article Abstract:

The development of the new Indian indigenous Airborne Early Warning and Control System (AWACS), based on the Embraer EMB-145 AEW&C platform, was approved by the Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in the early September 2004. The development programme is scheduled to be completed within five years and it will not exceed a cost ceiling of 1,800 crore rupees (approximately $450 million).

FAUST: Command and control system for the battlefield

Article Abstract:

FAUST is a battlefield management system from EADS Deutschland GmbH that speeds up the command process at brigade headquarters and its operational capabilities are developed in a series of ever more realistic field trials. FAUST was deployed with the German peacekeeping-forces in Afghanistan in 2003 and in Kosovo (KFOR/SAFOR) in 2004.
