Article Abstract:

Manufacturers of military bridges are expected to continue receiving orders for their products in the coming years. Recent conflicts, such as the one in Yugoslavia, suggest the continued importance of bridging equipment not only for military deployments but also for restoring lines of communications during the cessation of hostilities. Bridging technology has also managed to improve over the years despite the end of the Cold War.

Mr. Alec Erwin, Minister for Public Enterprises of the Republic of South Africa, has described the main aim of the newly created International Aerostructures Company in South Africa. He believes that the subsidiary of the Swedish company Saab and Denel Group of South Africa will provide more efficiency to the air division of Denel, especially since the air-related defence industry is rapidly growing in South Africa.
