Greece's defense and security policy

Article Abstract:

Greece is a sea area of enormous geopolitical importance and it is the only country member of the EU, NATO and the WEU in the Balkans, and in the Eastern Mediterranean occupying a critical geographical position surrounded by tensions and conflicts. The fundamental principles of Greece's national strategy, the principles of the national defense policy and the national military strategy are discussed.

Strengthening Hellenic defence and defence industry: "an organic part of the European defence industry"

Article Abstract:

The Hellenic defense industry faces the same challenges as other European industries, said Yiannis Drossos, general director of the General Directorate for Defense Industry Research and Technology. These challenges include reduced market potential for many weapons systems. A bigger challenge for the Hellenic industry, however, is the imperative to restructure in order to survive.

"Defendory" at 26

Article Abstract:

The "Defendory 2006" three-service defense exhibition, organized by the Institution of Industrial Exhibitions under the auspices of the Hellenic Ministry of National Defense, was held in Athens. Exhibits included Leopard 2 HEL main battle tanks, remote controlled vehicles and robots for EOD removal/anti-IED roles and Patria's AMV 8 * 8 equipped with the Rheinmetall E4 turret.
