The impact of the announcement in March 2006 regarding Iran holding its first major "Hole Prophet" maneuvers in the Persian Gulf, the largest since the Khomeini Revolution in 1979, is discussed. The Iranian Revolutionary Guards should be reckoned as a powerful naval force in the restricted Gulf waterways, with its present arsenal and the KOSAR, the fastest underwater missile in the world, and whether the show of strength in April was a stern warning or a sign of panic is to be seen.
