Hu tightens his grip but still has to share

Article Abstract:

Chinese Communist Party (CCP) general secretary Hu Jintao's hold of his 'fourth generation' and the development of a corruption investigation in Shanghai have demonstrated its dominance over the CCP. President Hu's party has to share power with other parties and hence this intra-party competition will baffle his reforms, affect China's policies and relationships with other countries and encourage the nationalism and projections of China's power.

Thailand descends into political paralysis

Article Abstract:

The decision of the Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra to dissolve the parliament and calling fresh elections has increased the political pressure and paralyzed the country's political system. The political paralysis and public unrest has led to concern that the military rule would enter if the crisis persists.
