Intelligence-sharing failures hampers war on terrorism

Article Abstract:

The 11 September 2001 attacks on the US might have focused the world's attention on the need to share intelligence, but countries are not giving importance to the exchange of information, despite measures being put in place and bodies being established. The treaties and organizations are not trusted for any exchange of high-grade intelligence and hence a real cooperation only exists on the basis of bilateral relationships between organizations that have traditions of working with each other.

New Islamist terrorist leaders replace those killed and captured

Article Abstract:

The success of US with the war against Al-Qaeda has damaged the Islamist networks forcing Islamists to adapt and replicate new generation of leaders. One of them include Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, a Jordanian Palestinian who leads the group known as Al-Tawhid wal Jihad whose structure is believed to consist of 500-1,000 operatives in Iraq alone.
