'It will be better when you leave': In two Iraqi cities, signs of progress and frustration

Article Abstract:

The US government decided to slowdown its troops from Iraq on two conditions, such as there should be a lasting political process with stable civic institutions that protect minority rights and the fielding of an Iraqi security force capable of defending its borders and defeating the insurgency. The locals in the two Iraqi places, Ramadi and Hit appeared to be fed up with the insurgency and were ready for law and order to be restored.

Building an Iraqi army

Article Abstract:

The Iraqi Army has become more tactically proficient and ready for battle in 2005 but is lacking logistic support and the threat of creeping lawlessness in a force the US is depending upon to impose law and order. The Iraqi army has made substantial progress but is struggling to absorb a crucial characteristic of their US trainer.

Brothers in arms: Jordan forges new Iraqi army from remnants of defeated force

Article Abstract:

The new Iraqi recruits, trained in Jordan, are educated to serve as one team for one united country. Analysts and officials fear that Iraq might slip into a civil war but Jordan, U.S's staunchest allies believe that patience in Iraq can bring stability to the country.
