Light Weight Torpedos (LWTs) are the weapon of choice against submarines as they can be launched from surface ships. An account of LWT and its peculiarities, particularly its general military requirements, its key factors for a successful engagement, discriminating factors and possible scenarios that could support decisions to identify the best suitable torpedo for a specific scenario is presented.
