Lessons from Vietnam: Essential training of Marine advisors and combined action platoon personnel

Article Abstract:

The Vietnam experience can be applied directly to the efforts of the Marine Corps in Iraq in the combined action program (CAP) and the Marine advisory effort. There are significant variations in the depth, quality and applicability of training and preparing Marines for their roles as CAP members and as Marine advisors. Hence suitable modern training design methodology, training technology including language and culture training and lessons from Vietnam can be combined for the purpose.
