The development of mine countermeasure (MCM) devices in the first decade of the 21st century will focus on remote operations that go beyond the use of remotely-operated vehicles for identifying mines and placing mine disposal charges. In the US, the Navy's future MCM program is an innovative organic MCMs. However, other navies, particularly those with smaller distances to cover, are still likely to prefer dedicated MCM vessels.

Emulation of ships' acoustic signatures

Article Abstract:

ADI Ltd of Australia has developed a mine countermeasure device called the ADI Acoustic Generator (AAG). The AAG provides an effective influence sweeping of mines by emulating ship acoustic signatures acceptable to modern mine logic. Since the AAG is programmable, it can generate acoustic output in the infrasonic, audio and ultrasonic bandwidths. The device is also hydraulically driven, sef-contained and compact.
