Netherlands equips national crisis center

Article Abstract:

The Netherlands government has inaugurated its new National Crisis Center (NCC) located in The Hague, which is designed to serve as the national hub for crisis management, and is equipped according to the same security and connectivity specifications as the country's Defense Operations Center. The modernization and refurbishment efforts have cost the government an estimated amount of $14.5 million.

Strategic Communication, a type of communication that uses persuasion and influence to change people's behavior could be used to prevent a crisis occuring, or diffuse a crisis once it has developed. A review on the different solutions that the Strategic Communication Laboratories provide is presented.

The end of humanitarian intervention

The concept of human intervention that was prominent in 1990s disappeared from the vernacular when President George W. Bush resumed office in 2001. He criticized his predecessor's foreign policies as too interventionists and unfocused because they were not based on geopolitical priorities.
