New Zealand decides not to upgrade Orions

Article Abstract:

New Zealand has opted not to continue the NZ$450 million-worth project Sirius, the tactical systems upgrade of the Royal New Zealand Air Force's six strong P3-K Orion fleet. Instead, the government has formed a group of senior ministers whose task would be to determine New Zealand's maritime patrol requirements and whether a military capability is still needed. Project Sirius was designed to build a new mission system around a Windows NT-based integrated data management system that made extensive use of Commercial Off-the-Shelf hardwate and software.
