North Korean nuclear plant poses threat of meltdown

Article Abstract:

The six-party talks aimed at negotiating North Korean 'denuclearization' which reopened in July 2005, although a positive development, has failed to address the unsafe nature of Pyongyang's nuclear programme, an equally important source of insecurity emanating from the program. The threat to the safety of the program comes from the stocking up on potassium iodide tablets, designed to provide some protection to the staff involved in the nuclear program, which increases the threat of a nuclear accident.
