Oman selects Super Rapid gun for Khareef OPV

Article Abstract:

The Oto Melara, a Finmeccanica Company, is officially selected by the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO), as the preferred bidder, to supply the medium-calibre dual-purpose gun for its Project Khareef Ocean Patrol Vessel (OPV) programme. The vessel would be fitted with Oto Melara 76/62 mm Super Rapid gun system, as selected for Oman's new OPV, which is line with its in-service armaments.

MBDA wins Teseo production for Italian navy

Article Abstract:

The Italian Navy has awarded MBDA a production contract for the Teseo Mk 2/A missile, following its first successful flight in early 2006. The contract covers the upgrading of 38 in-service missiles as well as four new launching control systems, logistic support and options for additional renewed missiles.

Build of Oman's first project Khareef OPV commences

Article Abstract:

VT Shipbuilding has constructed three of its first Project Khareef offshore patrol vessels (OPV) for the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO). The OPV in addition to being able to reach a high speed of 25 kt is also designed with advance stealth features.
