Remanufactured Chinooks make up large proportion of US Army CH-47F purchase

Article Abstract:

Remanufactured CH-47D Chinooks made up a major proportion of the total of CH-47F helicopters ordered by the US Army from Boeing Integrated Defense System (IDS) in January 2007. The production contract comprises of 16 new-build CH-47Fs and nine CH-47Ds remanufactured to CH-47F configuration, as well as options for 22 additional new-build CH-47Fs and 19 remanufactured CH-47Ds valued at over USD920 million.

Raytheon and ITT collaborate over interim solution to US Army's JTRS requirements

Article Abstract:

Raytheon and ITT's collaboration will provide an interim solution that will provide the voice and data communications requirements being demanded by US Army operational commanders in advance of the arrival of the troubled Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS). The two companies who are sharing the technology will launch two new products, the Microlight 3G (M3G) and the SINCGARS ASIP-E.

Land-based Phalanx takes aim at rockets, artillery and mortars

Article Abstract:

The US Army has revealed the development and deployment of a mobile, ground-based variant of the Phalanx Block 1B 20 mm close-in weapon system (CIWS) for counter rockets, artillery and mortars (C-RAM) defence in Iraq. The Land-Based Phalanx Weapon Systems (LPWS) reconfigures the Phalanx Block 1B system to meet the requirement of the US Army for C-RAM defence.
