The Air-Maneuver and transport concept: Can it transform the nature of rapid contingency operations?
Article Abstract:
The ArmyEs air-maneuver and transport (AMT) concept is working to change the face of combat, like the tank and the helicopter, currently envisioned by the architects of the Transformation process believed to change the nature of rapid contingency operations. The AMT would lead to an advanced lift platform capable of self-deploying up to 2,100 nautical miles, operating from austere support facilities and transporting FCS-equipped brigades to far away intended engagement areas.

The collapse of the Iraqi National Guard (ING) in 2004 initiated the U.S. command to focus on building a strong and loyal Iraqi security forces. The first step in the election's success started much before by rebuilding a capable and dedicated Iraqi army and it was accomplished in a short time through a surge of resources, planning and leadership at the top echelons of the U.S. command in Iraq and the hard work of many individual American soldiers behind the scenes.
