He's not old. He's talented

Article Abstract:

The US Marine Corps should consider creating the post of specialist airmen as an alternative to promoting its best pilots to desk jobs or simply releasing them from the service. The concept, borrowed from a practice that has been successfully implemented by the UK Royal Air Force, involves creating a field-grade equivalent officer who has no aspiration for command. These full-time pilots will save the Corps millions of dollars in training and expertise.

Strike control and reconnaissance

Article Abstract:

The advance on Baghdad by coalition forces during March and April 2003 was one of the most startlingly successful military campaigns in modern history. Although no competent authority actually believed that the Iraqis would be able to turn back the American offensive, most were shocked by the speed, power, and agility of both the US Army and Marine Corps.

STOVL and JSF: Let's not handicap a winner

Article Abstract:

A short takeoff vertical landing (STOVL) version of the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) is seen as less advantageous as the more conventional JSF aircraft. There are questions surrounding the Marine Corp's intention to purchase the STOVL version, which is expected to be less capable and more expensive than the JSF. The decision towards vertical landing capabilities may seem promising at first, but history has demonstrated little value for such a concept.
