Shaping the future

Article Abstract:

US Navy and Marine Corps are heavily dependent on array of major procurement programs at varying states of development states in 2005 that would provide significant savings in ownership costs of future weapons but many of these futuristic systems carry multi-million dollar funding requirements extending into the next decade. The budgetary challenges and technological obstacles associated with leap-ahead concepts threaten to slow or even halt the progress toward some of these improvements.
