Small fuel cells, generators may replace bulky batteries

Article Abstract:

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency's (DARPA) Palm Power Project is working on replacing the bulky batteries carried by soldiers by providing them with rechargeable fuel cells and a portable, lightweight electric generator. The Palm Power Project aims at reducing the energy-producing load a soldier will have to carry for missions of various lengths.

40 robot teams advance to DARPA semifinal

Article Abstract:

Forty teams are selected by the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to advance to the semifinals of the DARPA Grand Challenge 2005 autonomous ground vehicle competition. Twenty teams will be selected to compete for the $2 million prize in the Grand Challenge event scheduled for October 8, 2005.
