The US Navy's Littoral Combat Ship programme shows how the concept of transformational weapons can mean wholesale changes to platform design and performance. The radical designs challenge traditional notions of naval operations and fast warships is made possible by technology that is developed from modern catamaran ferries.

Pentagon 2006 budget places hi-tech weapons in the shade

Pentagon's fiscal year 2006 budget, released in February 2005, reveals that hi-tech weapons will be put aside for the time being. The budget attempts to stop procurement of the Lockheed Martin C-130J for the USAF, but allies in Congress and stiff cancellation turns may cause that decision to be revisited.

Bell scans market with Eagle Eye

Article Abstract:

Bell is continuing to introduce new applications of technology, the new one being Standard HV-911Eagle Eye that will be ready by the start of 2005. The US Marine Corps plans to acquire eight Eagle Eyes, which it will evaluate as a potential replacement for the RQ-2 Pioneer.
