Thailand strengthens security ties with Israel

Article Abstract:

Thailand has been reinforcing security ties with Israel and India that have combated threats from Islamic militants along and across their borders. The escalating crisis in its majority-Muslim southern border region has lent a new urgency to Bangkok's security relationships with Tel Aviv and New Delhi, in which co-operation over intelligence gathering and possible purchases of sophisticated intelligence-gathering equipment have moved to the top of the agenda.

Thailand, Myanmar improve relations

Article Abstract:

The Thailand government is pursuing a policy of improving relations with Myanmar for negotiating to avoid the border clashes reported during the early months of 2001 and 2002. However, critics point out that it is uncertain whether by letting down its military guard, Thailand will be promoting goodwill and co-operation, thus enabling to reduce the threat it faces from narcotics or, conversely, increasing the problem.

Thailand moves to curb arms trafficking

Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra's administration may be more aggressive in its scrutiny of illicit arms trafficking in southern Thailand. The country's maritime neighbors are urging more action from Bangkok.
