The GCC and Gulf security: Still looking to America

Article Abstract:

The military strengths and weaknesses of the states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) comprising of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain and Oman, are discussed. These states face a threat from rebellious Shiite populations, emboldened by the resurgence of the Shiite power in Iraq, and would do well to unite and maintain bilateral ties with the U.S.

His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan who received the general manager of the Al-Iktissad Wal Aamal (AIWA) group discusses about his vision to the political and economic situation in the region in the light of the war in Iraq. He feels that the American military and political supremacy on Iraq will effectively determine Iraq's economic relations and foreign trade.
