The Navy pushes for more

Article Abstract:

US Navy officials have joined lawmakers with shipyard constituencies in calls for the purchase of additional ships and a bigger budget for the naval service. From about 600 ships during the time of Pres Ronald Reagan, the US Navy has been reduced to operating 315 ships as of 2000, its lowest number since 1933. Warnings regrading the shortage of submarines, troop transportt and cargo ships for overseas deployments have already been issued.

Article Abstract:

Excerpts from the speech by George J. Tenet, director of central intelligence, the head of the Intelligence Community to the Senate Armed Services Committee, on "The Worldwide Threat in 2003: Evolving dangers in a complex world" are presented. He feels that the threat from Al Qaeda still remains, as the network is extensive and adaptable.

Air Force Association Statement of Policy: imperative of air and space power

Article Abstract:

Airmen, fighting alongside soldiers, sailors, Marines, and allied forces attacked Iraq on March 2003, ending the dictatorship of Saddam Hussein. It is reported that Iraqi Freedom was the first major military operation since the announcement in 2002 of the new National Security Strategy of the United States.
