The awesome power of air force gunships

Article Abstract:

Gunships have had a successful history of use in global military operations. The side-firing airborne weapon proved highly effective particularly during the Vietnam War. Aircraft equipped with gunships were considered a major threat for their lethal accuracy. The increasing use of gunships as major sources of airpower has remained with the USAF even after Vietnam, as indicated by the presence of eight AC-130Hs and 13 AC-130Us for the Air Force Special Operations Command.
