Time trial: Should Trident add short-notice capability to the US global-strike mission?

Article Abstract:

The US Department of Defense (DoD) plans to change nuclear-armed Trident ballistic missiles for the conventional 'prompt global strike' mission to strike high-payoff targets anywhere in the world at very short notice. The experts and defense analyst raise several questions about the Trident deployments and operations like the co-location of nuclear and conventional warheads and also, it is not clear as to how much capability these missiles would add to the conventional global-strike mission.

Sweden's Gotland heads for year with US Navy

Article Abstract:

The Royal Swedish Navy A 19 submarine HMS Gotland left Sweden for the US in late May 2005 to begin a 12-month period on lease to the U.S. Navy (USN) for adversary training. Gotland would be used for testing and training anti-submarine systems and operators on board surface ships and would be stationed in the U.S. with a complete Swedish crew and a small shore-based support detachment.

Argentine destroyer joins Enterprise strike group

Article Abstract:

The ARA Sarandi, an Almirante Brown-class Meko 360 destroyer in the Argentinian Navy, is conducting joint operations with the USS Enterprise aircraft carrier strike group. The Sarandi will operate with the group for about one month.
