To come unseen: Special forces delivery from submarines

Article Abstract:

The study examines the future development of the capability of the US Navy to launch and recover special forces from submarines and convert capability, and also reviews Dry Deck Shelters (DDS), which provides the submarine with the ability to participate in special operations, Mk 8 SDV. The MK 8 SDV is designed to carry combat swimmers and their cargo in a fully flooded enclosure and ASDS developed to meet requirements for a revolutionary improvement in underwater insertion capabilities for the 21st century.

The United Kingdom and United States navies have well-established Naval Gunfire Support capabilities and fraternities geared to assuming their respective amphibious forces. The Naval gunfire support is provided with a utility of light mobile forces and renewed enthusiasm for projection from the sea, so more navies are investing in larger, gun-armed ships.

US Navy's LCS programme picks up steam

Article Abstract:

The US Navy's Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) programme is catching speed as the team leaders Lockheed Martin and General Dynamics announced milestones in their respective Flight O programmes. General Dynamics has secured a USD223 million contract for LCS 2 construction while Raytheon received SeeRam for LCS 2 and Lockheed opened LCS integration centre.
