Transforming NATO air power: New 'Competence Center' set to open

Article Abstract:

The Joint Air Power Competence Center, which opens in Kalkar, Germany, is helping in the development of joint air doctrine for NATO countries old and new. The new center would be made up of transformation division, which would be divided into policy, concepts and coordination branch and future capabilities branch, and capabilities divisions, which is comprised of combat air, combat support, combat service support and command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance, target, acquisition and reconnaissance (C4ISTAR).

All-volunteer forces: NATO countries move to drop conscription

Article Abstract:

The U.S. Defense Department and the U.S. Mission to NATO had sponsored a conference in Brussels on 14-15 May 2004, which discussed about the idea to drop conscription among the NATO nations. The proponent of professional armies argues that all-volunteer forces would be better for the modern expeditionary operations than the conscripted personnel's.
