Two centuries of catamarans

Article Abstract:

The deployment of the high-speed experimental ship Joint venture (HSV-XI) to Southwest Asia has attracted attention on the unique characteristics of the Australian built catamaran. Robert Fulton, the famous designer and builder of vessels propelled with steam-driven paddlewheels, addressed the vulnerability of exterior paddlewheels to enemy gunfire by proposing a catamaran that placed the paddlewheel between the two hills.

Two-plus centuries of heritage under one roof

Article Abstract:

The chief of naval operations (CNO), Adm. Arleigh Burke was the main person behind the establishment of the national US Navy Museum at the Washington Navy Yard. The Navy Museum, which has completed 40 years, continues to embody and expand upon Burke's vision of sharing the NavyEs history, artifacts and tradition with the American people and other navies and nations of the world.

America's first submarine

Article Abstract:

The 'Turtle' was the first American submarine that was built by a Connecticut farmer David Bushnell somewhere in the late 1700s. Bushnell's design of the Turtle was revived and reviewed by the Naval Academy midshipmen and it was successfully launched and tested on 15 January 2003 in Snug Harbor in Duxbury, Massachusetts.
