UK awards FV430-series upgrade contract

Article Abstract:

The UK Defence Logistics Organization (DLO) has finally awarded a GBP80 million (USD 141 million) contract for upgrade of British Army fleet of FV430-series armoured fighting (AFVs) to BAE Systems Land Systems. As per the contract for upgrading the 500 vehicles, the BAE Systems Land Systems, as the overall design authority of the FV430 series, would be responsible for supplying the subsystems from the original equipment manufacturer to ABRO, who would carry out the upgrade work at its Bovington, Dorset, facility.

South Africa orders upgrade for Olifants

Article Abstract:

Armscor has awarded Alvis OMC a contract worth approximately US $17million for the upgrade of Olifant Mk 1B main battle tanks (MBTs) for the South African (SA) Army. The upgrade program for the Olifant, a much reworked British Centurion tank, would span two years and would include upgrading the gun control equipment and upgrading the powerpack to include a power increase of over 15 percent.

Sweden's Thor 8x8 multirole vehicle development continues

Article Abstract:

The Swedish Defense Material Administration (FMV) has contracted BAE systems Hagglunds to complete development of SEP (Splitterskyd-dad EnhetsPlattform) Modular Armored Tactical System track and wheel (6x6) vehicles. The program for development on the 8x8 Thor vehicles is to continue.
