UK awards UUV research package

Article Abstract:

The UK Ministry of Defense (MoD) has awarded a 7 million pounds sterling contract to Applied systems, an software house Systems Engineering and Assessment (SEA) to conduct a three-year package of unmanned under-water vehicle (UUV) research as part of the MoD's research competition pilot initiative. The Battlespace Access UUV (BAUUV) programme sponsored by the MoD Directorate of Equipment Capability (Under Water Battlespace) DEC (UWB) is designed to demonstrate and de-risk key UUV technology and integration issues, and support DEC(UWB) in establishing short-, medium- and long-term priorities for unmanned vehicles.

General Atomics takes prize for arrested development

The system development and demonstration (SDD) phase of the Advanced Arresting Gear (AAG) programme has been assigned to a team led by General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems Division. The functionality of the new arrestor system to recover tailhook-equipped aircraft abroad United States Navy aircraft carriers is described.

FRA introduces target service

Article Abstract:

UK-based FR Aviation (FRA) is starting a new Contractor Furnished Equipment aerial towed target service under contract to the UK Ministry of Defense (MoD). FRA would take responsibility for the procurement of new targets on behalf of the Ministry of Defense and for guaranteeing target performance on task.
