USAF builds a smarter A-10

Article Abstract:

The US Air Force proposes to implement a series of complementary upgrades that it expects to allow the Fairchild A/OA-10 Thunderbolt II to remain operationally effective in battlefield air operations and airborne forward air-control roles until 2028. A Precision Engagement programme would be embraced to enhance the aircraft's targeting facilities and engagement accuracy, rewinging of the fleet to extend its service life and potentially, an uprated engine to assist main operations.
