Upgraded RAN frigate scores ESSM firsts

The article discusses the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) that became the first in the world to launch Evolved Sea Sparrow Missile (ESSM). RAN achieved this feat when its Adelaide-class frigate HMAS Sydney undertook its first firing of Raytheon's RIM-162 ESSM.

ASCG to enhance UK's Type 23 close-in defence capabilities

The 30mm Automated Small Calibre gun (ASCG) system have been successfully test fired from aboard the U.K. Royal Navy frigate HMS Somerset. Integration of this system into the navy will boost the defense capabilities.
