Article Abstract:

A demonstrator would test the Non-Line-of-Sight Cannon (NLOS-C) concept of U.S. ArmyEs Future Combat Systems (FCS) built by United Defense and General Dynamics Land Systems through the year 2004 and 2005 after the actual prototype would be ready. While prototype production on FCS manned ground vehicle variants is not scheduled until 2006, Boeing and SAIC could begin working on a common chassis based on the cannon demonstrator.

The Navy Department refused the purchase of F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) aircraft. However, the F-35 Short Takeoff and Vertical Landing (STOVL) argue that the planes would give the Air Force a way of projecting power into regions populated by fair-weather allies.
