The results of Maclean's 1996 survey of Canadians reveals that many have grudgingly accepted the possibility that there will be a two-tier health system and less economic stability and affluence. Canadians want politicians to come up with pragmatic solutions to the nation's problems.

A confident nation: a new poll shows growing optimism

A 1997 survey of Canadians revealed that many young Canadians under the age of 30 hold the same liberal social values as their parents and grandparents. Canadians between 30 and 40 are optimistic while those in or near retirement are more negative.
