Cinram buys stake in U.S. e-distribution firm

Toronto, Ont.-based Cinram International Inc. has acquired an undisclosed number of shares and warrants in Broadcast Software Corp. for $1.5 million. Cinram, which will create Internet-related entertainment marketing and distribution operations with Broadcast Software, produces CDs, DVDs and video cassettes.

Cinram rules out equity issue

Isidore Philosophe, the founder and chief executive officer of Toronto, Ont.-based Cinram International Inc., said that the firm will not enter the equity markets. Cinram is seeking financing for its $1.05 billion acquisition of AOL Time Warner Inc.'s CD/DVD unit.
