Methanex mulls new products

Article Abstract:

Methanex Corp. CEO and Presiden Pierre Choquette announced that the Vancouver-based firm is mulling to shift into other lines of business to cope up with a California ruling that orders the phase-out of fuel additive methyl tertiary-buytl ether (MTBE). However, Choquette did no elaborate further on the plan. Analysts believe Methanex's move will cause shutdowns or plant sales. Methanex, the world's biggest producer of methanol, has already shuttered two of its plants including one in Medicine Hat, Alberta and a joint venture in Fortier, CA.
